Hi there, I’m Caroline. Or maybe you know me as Ponsi. I’m a film photographer based in New York, originally from Baltimore. I’ve been shooting on my dad’s AE-1 Canon since I was 15. It was his high school graduation gift that has seen a collective 41 years of use. I’ve taken his film camera with me across the country and around the world over the years.
My work spans a wide range of collections from travels, to local street work, and special events (i.e. engagement, wedding, graduation, etc.). Sometimes I bring my camera out with an intention, but most of the time people and nature surface the perfect moment. More often, I leave my camera behind, experience the perfect moment, and agonize over the fact that I should have brought my camera. But hey, that’s living in the moment.
Though a long time film photographer, I only began showing and publishing my work as of 2024. In a world of instant gratification, I am deeply appreciative of the process, patience, and attention to detail necessary in film photography. I hope my work continues to encourage and promote film practice as a way to be present in art and nature.
Above all else, I’m capturing moments that spark interest and joy in me, hoping that preserving them will bring someone else the same. I hope something in my collections makes you think of the people or places you love.
